How to write a Winning Resume

Remember... A resume is your marketing tool to showcase your Professional / Career Profile. This covers your Qualifications, Skills, Competencies, Experience & Significant Achievements in your Career. The resume is your first point of interaction with a prospective employer.
On an average, an employer spends only a few seconds looking at a resume. To catch the employer's attention, the resume must be Simple, Readable, Comprehensive and Positive. In a nut-shell, your resume must be very well-written & "highly attractive"  to catch the viewer's eye-balls.

A winning resume must be accompanied by a well- written Cover Letter for creating a positive first impression.
Hence, one needs to invest considerable amount of time and effort to develop a winning resume. Your profile summary should be presented by using appropriate font types and text sizes whilst simultaneously mentioning your unique selling points.
Essential elements for writing your resume:

  • Provide appropriate information using short sentences or bullet points; make sure your resume does not exceed two pages
  • The information regarding your experience and education should be chronologically put together; highlighting relevant information.
  • Avoid using first-person narration whilst describing your profile and responsibilities
  • Make use of readable fonts (Arial or Times New Roman) and size (10 or 11). Arrange and space your sentences to make the information easier to read
  • Create a visual appeal using fonts like bold, italics, and capitalization
  • Get a thorough check done regarding spelling errors, grammatical weaknesses and unusual punctuation

Below mentioned are the key contents required in a comprehensive  resume:

Career Summary, Major Achievements in your career so far & Career Objective/s - make sure you keep it brief and factual.
